- Congenital intratympanic membrane cholesteatoma (ITMC) is a rare type of congenital cholesteatoma located within the tympanic membrane. This lesion tends to increase in size over time. The development of ITMC can cause several complications such as hearing impairment, dizziness, facial palsy, and intracranial complications, similar to any other cholesteatoma. The treatment of congenital cholesteatoma requires the removal of the lesion through surgery, because disease progression induces bony destruction of the nearby tissue. Most patients presenting with this cholesteatoma type are also treated with primary surgical removal. However, we recently experienced a case of an ITMC that showed a natural transition to an external auditory canal cholesteatoma.

- Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) peritonitis is a major complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD) and leads to the discontinuation of PD. Despite its limited pathogenicity, CAPD peritonitis caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (S. maltophilia), an important nosocomial pathogen that is present in nature and is usually associated with plastic indwelling devices. Infection of S. maltophilia is associated with a poor prognosis, including inability to maintain the CAPD catheter, because of its resistance to multiple antibiotics. We report a case of CAPD peritonitis due to S. maltophilia that was treated successfully using oral Trimethoprim-sulfame-thoxazole and intraperitoneal Ticarcillin/clavulanate without removing the dialysis catheter.

- There has been an increase in the number of reports of atypical manifestations of Graves' disease (GD), such as jaundice, anemia, thrombocytopenia and leukopenia. Pancytopenia also rarely occurs in GD. In this paper, a case of pancytopenia with GD that was successfully treated with an anti-thyroid drug is reported. In this case, a 69-year-old woman showed pancytopenia with a normal peripheral blood smear, bone marrow aspiration smear and bone marrow biopsy. Her thyroid function test and thyroid scintigraphy confirmed her hyperthyroid status. Her laboratory abnormality and clinical condition improved after she was treated with an anti-thyroid drug. This is a rare case of pancytopenia associated with GD.
